Playing for two clubs?

Anonymous
DS got an offer to play up a year for one club and with his age group for another club--can we play for two clubs at the same time? What am I obligated to disclose to each? And yes, I know I'm crazy so save your snark.

No, you may only register with one club. They will ask for your birth certificate and picture so they can register you with their club. How is this even a question? How would it work logistically?

You can double-card if the clubs are in different leagues

How would practices work?
Yes, you can double card if you have a USYS and a US Club Card, but this would be near impossible to do without both Coaches knowing. If they both agree to it, go for it, but you will have to prioritize one over another if conflicts arise.
Also, "playing up" isn't always the best thing for your kid's development. Too many parents in this area are hung up on it as a sign of their player's worth and talent.

Actually i heard that you can't do this anymore without permission from both teams.

Even if you could, that seems like a perfect way to lead to burn out.

I would assume it is a situation that would be coordinated with the full knowledge of both teams

Players have worth when we are paying to play? 😂

If its not a sign of talent, what is it when a kid is playing a year up and dominant against the older kids?
Just seeking understanding as a parent not very knowledgeable on soccer.

Dumb question. Why would spend that kind of money and why would you do that to your kid?

What is the point of this?

Playing on two teams for two different club is not going to make your child a superstar.

We were able to play up at a smaller club, it was fine, kid is average size, so it was a struggle play up against bigger, smarter and more aggressive kids for the year. Kid learned to pass more instead of getting into 1 v 1 scenarios.

But when considering a bigger club, it was obvious we couldn't play a year up as there was too much talent. We will move out kid back down to his appropriate year next year.

We played on 2 futsal teams over the winter, in 2 different leagues, not sure it was worth it... too much practice and missed some games. By the end, Kid dreaded the grind and was happy to be done and asked we don't do that again next year.

Two fustal team and league is not the same as playing on two regular league. My DC played for two futsal and also do three indoor teams.

Given that there isn't really advantage in playing for 2 clubs I would just pick one and focus on it. Will he have 2 spouses when he grows up to? Show a little commitment and focus, the ROI on that outweighs what you get from 2 teams at the same time.

Everyone's situation is different, and its different for boys vs girls. Most ballers I grew up with played on multiple teams, because why not its fun. NO team or league is that serious as a teenager that you should be worrrying about prioritzing. As long as somone else is paying, just play ball wherever you're invited to play
