I literally grew up at that Barnes and Noble. First as a nerdy teen who sat by the back windows reading comic books; attending the midnight Harry Potter book launch party with my whole family; sitting at the cafe filling out job applications after college; so many coffee first dates when I was online dating.
I’m so sad!!! 😭 why does everything get worse! |
It's moving locations within the mall. Chill. |
Wait - WHAT?!?
Is it because crime at the mall skyrocketing ever since the metro stop opened? |
Why would criminals in VA ride the metro? Don't they all have cars? |
FWIW, they had signs posted to this effect the last time I was there. But the staff said they didn’t actually have a lease on another location yet. They were hoping to work that out with mall management but at the time it wasn’t a done deal. Hopefully that changes (or even already has) and they do move within the mall. |
It's because Jeff Bezos |
I heard a staff member tell someone that it’s because mall management wants to lease the space to someone else (so I guess they either didn’t renew B&Ns lease or raised the rent too much). |
Iconic? |
Oh no! I do most of my Christmas shopping at that B&N every year, Monday after Thanksgiving. Then hav lunch at the Coastal Flats.
Sad to hear it has closed. Someone please update us if a new one opens elsewhere in the mall. Hard to imagine in this retail age that a mall is pushing out any retailer who wants to be there. |
Wut.
I didn't know it was closing. |
Noooo ugh. Tysons is becoming a ghost town. I don't even know what retailer would fill that space. |
That’s the best Barnes & Noble! I stayed up till midnight to buy Harry Potter 7 there. Sad. |
Me too!!! |
oh no!!!! |
What precisely is iconic about that particular location, OP?
