Length of sore throat with cold

It seems our DS has been getting colds little every month since September.. he does not develop any fever, but sore throat and plenty of running nose.

What worries me is that his sore throat stays for over a week. No enlarged lymph nodes, no fever, feeling fine otherwise ( active), never made anybody sick at home. But sore throat comes with runny nose every month, stays for 7+ days, goes away..

Op here, meant to ask how long your kids (teen) have sore throat when they get cold?

Normal. It’s the post nasal drip that prolongs it. Your sinuses drain down your throat all night after you’ve been congested so you can easily have a sore throat 1-2 weeks. What’s more worrisome to me is he is getting these every month. I’m a teacher surrounded by germs and even I have only had one cold this year- his immune system must not be very strong if he’s had colds constantly since September.

My kid has really bad allergies. Always sounds like he's sick. Sore throat and a cough with congestion. His sore throat always lasts for 1-2 weeks. Then it'll return after a couple weeks, it's so bad this year.

He was never this much sick until this year. Before it would be maybe one cold a year without fever. This year it was one after another. No fever, just sore throat, runny nose. Not even much cough..

My DS is the same. This weekend the sore throat was so severe we took him for testing at a walk in clinic. No strep, no covid, but positive for Influenza B.

He has anti-virals and is feeling better.
