Standing jeans and sitting jeans

Anonymous
I heard this the other day haha. Do you have standing jeans (ones that look great but aren’t comfy enough to sit in) and sitting jeans (the opposite)?

Oh yes. I have to unbutton my high-waisted standing jeans when I drive my car.

Which jeans are which category for you?

I think there are jeans that can be both but they need to have a lot of stretch and very soft denim. This combo tends to result in jeans that fall apart more easily. Also stretch denim has been out of style recently but I think it's coming back a bit more.

I've been looking for a pair of high waisted flares in a really good stretch denim for this exact reason -- the high waist and flared leg creates a nice line when you are standing, but with enough stretch in the fabric, it shouldn't be uncomfortable to sit in them.

Maybe if you didn't have a gigantic belly you were hiding and used the jeans to make all the fat in your ass and legs look better it wouldn't be a problem at all. I wear skinny jeans and never once had this issue because I'm not wearing jeans 3 times too small to hide my flaws and look "better".

Where are the jeans to hide a flawed personality?

No, but I don’t have a muffin top.

No, I buy pants that fit. That includes a "sitting down test" when trying on.

I shop for my body type. High waist works for me and low rise doesn't. If you're the opposite, don't buy high waist pants!

Boy, people on DCUM are so fun. Exactly who you'd want to go get a drink with.

Ew, why are you wearing "skinny jeans"? That's so 2020.

Imagine being this spiteful and damaged.

This isn't just about buying jeans too small. It's about how rigid the denim is. I have some "raw denim" jeans that look amazing and feel perfectly comfortable when I'm standing up, but are very uncomfortable when I'm sitting. With more wash and wear they will become softer and eventually they'll feel comfortable when sitting (probably more comfortable than any other jeans) but it takes time to break them in, and in the meantime I would wear them to a BBQ where I was standing most of the time, but not to work.
