Is it legal to put a basketball hoop in the street? If it makes a diff, neighbor put their hoop in front of another house, not theirs. It gets in the way of cars trying to park. Can they do this? |
That would really piss me off. |
Very common in our Arlington neighborhood. |
(But in front of your own house only FFS) |
Thank you. I feel seen. |
The person whose house it’s in front of should move it in front of its owner’s house. |
If it’s in front of their own house, then no, it’s not a problem.
But depends on your local laws, HOA. Probably better to ask them than a random forum of folks who don’t know your neighborhood rules. |
This is one of my pet peeves. Basketball hoops in the street are a menace. NP |
If it’s on their own property, it’s not illegal. If it’s not, that’s illegal and you have the right to complain. You can report it to the city. |
I agree. They are a nuisance. |
You should park your car right under it. |
Someone on my street does this despite there being a public elementary school with a half court and hoop 1 block away. |
This is why you walk over and talk with neighbors. |
Good luck. When the neighbor is awful enough that they put the basketball hoop in front of someone else's house, that means you're probably not dealing with a thoughtful person. |
gee it might help if you have ever had any relationship at all with the people on your street |
