How to find a specific used car?

Anonymous
I used to have a fun little Audi tt as my daily driver. Now I have kids and a mid size suv. It just occurred to me that I can have more than one car, so I’ve casually started looking to buy an older tt again but I can’t find one. I need to be frugal about this so I’m thinking a 2010 or so, needs to be a 2008-2015 because that’s the generation I want. How do I find a car that isn’t sitting on many lots?

People looking for specific cars often fly to where they are to pick them up. Search nationally using the usual sites.

Love the look of the TT. Never drove one but sat inside at auto shows.

+1, go in, fill out all the filter categories, save the search. Then run it every day or two. Eventually something will turn up.

This is exactly how we found our Jeep. We were looking for an extremely specific year and model, and even though it took almost six months, one popped up one day and we jumped on it.

You gotta accept going in that in this situation where you’re looking for something very specific, your flexibility with price only consists of either asking price or possibly higher, if you end up bidding against others who also want it. We hopped on ours within 4 hours of the ad being posted, paid full price, didn’t even attempt to haggle. Just get it bought. So if you want something specific, you need to be willing to do that.
