Chronic UTI & elevated Ferritin

Anonymous
Has anyone seen a connection between these? Or had success reducing them?

Ferritin is an acute phase reactant. You expect it to go up if there is infection or other inflammation.

I kept getting UTIs. My gyn told me to cut out gluten. I didn’t believe her because I don’t have any major stomach issues, but tried anyway. UTIs stopped.

you have too much acid in your ph.

Apple cider vinegar pills or lemon pills will stop the UTIs. You need to take it everyday.

I am a chronic UTIer too. Since I was 17. It took one little Indian doctor visit 15 years ago to basically cure the UTIs and kidney stones. God knows I suffered. I love that doctor.

Try the above. It won't hurt you at all.

The Ferritin was elevated at a time there was not a UTI.

Ask for a full iron panel and consider getting tested for genetic hemochromatosis. I have chronic UTI’s but my elevated ferritin turned out to be iron leading with hemochromatosis. It’s more common than most people realize, especially if you have Northern European ancestry (but others can have it too).

How old are you? Chronic UTIs in middle age is almost always due to declining estrogen and vaginal estrogen is the most effective preventative.

Well, yes, there are many causes of elevated ferritin. It's a non-specific finding.

However, the first post was under "Subject: Chronic UTI & elevated Ferritin" and asked "Has anyone seen a connection between these? Or had success reducing them?" The connection is that ferritin is an acute phase reactant, and of course it would be elevated with chronic UTI. Even between frank UTIs, there is probably ongoing underlying inflammatory changes.

That makes absolutely no sense. "Too much acid in your ph?" That's not going to be made less so by adding more acid, and both apple cider vinegar and lemon juice are quite acidic.

Did you mean to say that your pH was too alkaline?

NP. Not a chronic UTIer, but a widow afraid that I will get them once I reintroduce sexual activity. I use vaginal estrogen, but should I add apple cider vinegar pills? Really don't want any UTIs

Wash before and after sex. Other person washes before.

28. One partner for 4 years. Do all the usual recommended things to avoid getting UTIs and nothing seems to help. Separately, noticed increased ferritin across 2 readings in 6 months.

I was here with the same problem some years back. The form actually helped me.
I reduced my coffee and started taking D-mannose. It cured me.
