13 year old crusty eyes

Anonymous
DD has been waking up with tons of crust in her eyes (way more than normal sleep goobers) the past few mornings. She doesn't have allergies.
anyone know what could be causing this?

Don't know. But, a good home remedy is -

- quit wearing eye makeup, and discard all eye makeup. Assume they are contaminated. Wash and sterilize all make up brushes.
- rinse eyes with a boric acid solution - OTC or homemade. Twice a day
- Use Ocusoft spray to clean your lashes, eyelids and brows.
- Use heated eye mask to open up all blockages.
- do not go to sleep without removing your makeup.
- wash and change your bed linen and pillow cases very frequently.
- wash and sanitize your towels.
- Salt water gargles to nix a throat or sinus infection that can lead to crusty eyes.

Has she had a cold or ear infection recently?

Pink eye?

Warm, damp washcloth on the eyes for 5 min/ 3-4 times a day. It could be viral or allergy related. If she wears eye makeup, take a break from that and replace liner, mascara, powder and applicators.

Did you have to describe it that way in the title? Thank you now I’ll go vomit up my breakfast.

Take her to a doctor and stop asking randos on the internet that have not seen her.

Ugh these posts are absurd.

I’ve always heard that allergies change over five to seven years. This week switched from tree to grass pollen. I’d guess she now has allergies OP.

Does she spend a lot of time outdoors?

This. It’s pink eye but why ask randos. Go to the doctor.

Sounds like allergies. And with this time of year it is a real possibility.

conjunctivitis-wash her sheets and pillow cases, warm compresses a few times a day.

To my recollection kids are crusty from about 8 til like 16. General crust of no specific origin

My son only gets that during allergy season. He is 13 and only developed seasonal allergies in the past year.
