The same thing happened to me last year I eventually fell asleep around 10 AM and slept for 8 hours straight and I ended up missing the derby. |
What’s your favorite horse this year? |
What excited you about horses being forced to run risking injury and death for the entertainment of humans? |
+1. Educate yourself about the horse racing industry. I can't imagine that you would still be "excited" to watch this cruel spectacle. |
My DH is from Louisville and this is his day. We used to have large KD parties every year when we were younger. Fun times. |

Will you watch wearing a decorated hat? |
Are you at KD? |
Google Private Vow. He was a KD racehorse in 2006. Shipped off to S Korea and killed in a slaughterhouse when he was no longer useful. Just one example of the KD cruelty. Stop
Supporting it. |
Can you bet on whether a horse will be put down on the track? |
Yikes and highly possible. |
I used to retrain racehorses. I quit because I couldn’t keep them sound enough to have a useful post-track career. I ended up having to basically give them away to low level homes after sinking several years into each one.
I have no excitement about horse racing ever. I do love a good Thoroughbred, but now breed Dutch Warmbloods that can actually do my sport and stay sound. |
+2 I was leaving this thread alone just because of the title but this is good advice so I'll pile on. Please educate yourself. On the horses and the jockeys. |
I used to be but now as a life-long horse lover, I can't even watch. |
OP isn't excited about the horses, it's for the mint juleps and hats. |
