Heavy Up cost?

We got a quote for a “heavy up” upgrading from 150amp to 400amp at $12k (in DC). Is this reasonable?

Going to get more quotes but wondering how much people have paid. Thanks!

That's absurd. It's a new circuit box, some wiring, and a new feed from the power co. 3k and some permitting.

That sounds very very high except if they are rewiring the house. Do you really need 400 amp?

Our quote 2 years ago was for about $5K. We haven't done it yet, just been putting it off.

Our quote for 200 amps was 6K. But 400 amp is a whole other level, so I could see it being significantly more. Maybe you also need special permits for that amount of power.
