Mica Miller - pastor’s wife found dead right after she filed for divorce and a no-contact order

Her pastor soon to be ex preached a sermon just like normal and then told the congregation at the end that his wife committed suicide. He wrote a crazy obituary where he says she praised him all the time. It gets even more creepy. He groomed her from when he was her youth pastor and she was 14.

The investigation isn’t done yet but I bet the police are going to be looking pretty hard into where he was that day.

The "pastor" apparently already has a criminal record for assault. Sounds guilty as heck. I hope the necessary evidence is found.

That poor woman. Of course he did it.

Do churches not vet their pastors? He would never have made it past our elder board.

Wonder what happened to his 1st wife (the one he had 4-5 kids with and probably had to watch him groom teenagers when she was birthing and raising his kids).

As far as I know most churches have something equivalent. In the Episcopal Church it’s called the vestry. My Presbyterian friend is part of her church’s lay leadership. But like your elders, these lay leaders may not be skilled in ferreting out past crimes or future murders. .

No, not all churches vet. In fact, the Southern Baptist Convention leadership actively hid evidence that some of their pastors were sexually abusing kids and women in their churches (and would pass them off to new churches with glowing recommendations to make the problem go away from their local church).

And most non-denominational churches do not have any kind of effective governance due to the “celebrity pastor” movement that brings in $$$.

Yikes. That first bit of the sermon where he tells the congregation to leave and not talk about what he’s about to say…. majorly sus.

Just like man people are suspicious of those who run for public office, I have the same suspicion for anyone wanting leadership in some kind of religious institution. Alarm bells are always sounded.

I’m the PP and this doesn’t describe my church at all. We just went through a three year search to find a replacement for our retiring senior pastor. Our board went through hundreds of applicants.

Are you the same poster that always shares Daily Mail articles? Why on earth?!

So “most” non denominational churches are raking in money with celebrity pastors? How many non denominational churches do you think there are?

Like the PP, this doesn’t describe mine at all either. In fact at mine the whole family had to come in for an interview. Some search firms cost thousands of dollars and have four or five rounds of interviews.

Oh he did it. May he rot in hell. Groomer, abuser, murderer.

ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. (WPDE) — The cause of death has been released for 30-year-old Mica Miller, of Myrtle Beach, amid the ongoing investigation.

According to Robeson County Medical Examiner Dr. Richard Johnson, Miller died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Dr. Johnson said, “Based on the nature of the wound, that it is consistent with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. And it was not in the back of the head, as it has been speculated.”

Johnson said he wasn’t the on-call medical examiner the weekend Miller died, but he did go to the scene to assist the on-call medical examiner. He also serves as a regional pathologist for the North Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Do we really need to ask this after the Catholic and Southern Baptist child sex abuse scandals and the religiously affiliated Boy Scouts of America’s 80,000+ victims of sexual abuse?

Have we all already forgotten the dalai lama sucking on a little boy’s tongue?

Do churches not vet their pastors? Ha!

No. That would be silly when we don’t vet the president of the country. A government worker with a clearance has more scrutiny than the president. Same for Sunday school teachers.
Let’s change the conversation and start talking about doing something about these ironies.
