How to start a website?

Anonymous
I want to start a website so I can attract my own clients (currently just doing word of mouth).

I offer support services in 3 distinct areas.

My website will need to introduce me and explain what I do. Will need separate pages for each layer of services.

What I need:

Blog ability
Appointment booking/managing
Messaging/chat
Easy to edit

Possibly payment options

Design will be clean and simple (appealing to people with overstimulated and overwhelmed nervous systems.

When I start looking at site design (wix, WordPress, squarespace) I feel unsure which is best. I also don't know where to buy my domain. I want to set it up myself, I've tried talking with a few designers and don't feel they get the vision.

Can anyone here offer any resources or suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Doesn't matter. Every single one of these can give you all these features. Don't be an optimizer on this. You can switch later if you want.

Use GoDaddy as a host. I paid a website design company to do mine. So many use those template versions and they look generic, I wanted something more bespoke.

Look at the work of website design companies and schedule consultations based on if you like their work displayed; also read reviews from reputable websites like Clutch which is a good place to start for services related to businesses..

I did Bluehost and Wordpress. Templates make it pretty easy to set up a website.

You get what you pay for. If there are technical issues, you get zero support from places like Wix or GoDaddy.
