ECNL moving to school year not calendar

In the podcast they said they would be announcing new member clubs of ECNL at the end of this month / first week or April.

Perhaps they announce expansion first and then the new transitional rules?

USA 0 - Panama 1

Panama has just 4.5 million people, what a shame …

Soccer in the US is poor.

The fact that the USMNT has a disproportionately low number of Latino players (even though this is the main sport of this community and their participation rates are quite high) tells you something about our approach to the sport in the US.

I would have liked to see Luna play some last night; we needed some creativity to break their lines.

Our ECNL director is on board as, in the decision rooms and he says no one has said a single word about ECNL making concessions for trapped players beyond the 8th/11th grade concessions for 25/26. I have a trapped players and want it as much as everyone else. It’s not happening.

The ECNL director at my club who is a friend of mine showed me and email he sent to the ECNL commissioner when all of this was a rumor early this fall.

The commissioner told him he didn’t know anything about any age group changes. So either they are just liars or they really don’t know anything until they are hit in the mouth with it.

Dude…that’s an easy one…they’re liars…time and time again it’s been shown. Shoot, even their podcast reveals it. Don’t be Charlie Brown.

What is the strategy by ECNL and GA/MLSN to delay announcements of plans for SY/BY or even concessions made for trapped players 25/26? Get the kids through tryout season then throw a curve ball?

That's my take. Tryouts have begun some places and not others, so they don't want to do anything until everyone's tryouts are over. At that point, any potential rule changes won't affect team formation. At most, we're probably looking at some guidance about practicing by school year occasionally, and *maybe* some showcases allowing school year based teams.

That's probably the best guess at this stage.

US Club Soccer still has TBD on their 25/26 age matrix...

What’s the hold up on the guidance? Didn’t they say they’d have it out just after the Annual General Meeting?

60 days - so well within that window.

They mentioned 60 days in their press release last Dec., so assume it should be after the AGM. There is no US Soccer press release after the AGM so far.

Wow. That’s not something that happens by accident.

Eh, I'm Captain SY and that has been that way for a while. I just don't think they're that organized.
