Flights to vieques

Anonymous
I'm trying to book flights to vieques for December on vieques airline but it keeps telling me there are no flights...what am I doing wrong? or are they already sold out? Trying to go from the local airport not SJU so that it's less expensive.

Make sure you read reviews of whatever airline you pick. There are some pretty scary ones on Tripadvisor.

Go to Cape Air directly and check

I remember being surprised to see cape air as our connecting flight but realized it made perfect sense as a winter route for them.

Seconding the recommendation for Cape Air.

The ferry was cancelled for two days when we were there do to weather (choppy seas) but the flights still went.

It's probably too early. Wait for 6 months advance.

I have to say, we went to Puerto Rico for the first time this past spring break, And we did an overnight trip to Vieques for the bio luminescent bag. We took the ferry. It was pretty big letdown of an island, the bio luminescence was cool, but probably worth staying overnight. Plus the guest house we stayed in was pretty dumpy.

All I know is read reviews very well but our hotel in San Juan in comparison seemed very opulent. It was not, it was a residence inn.

Vieques is not an island for luxury, it's an island of beauty and relaxation, and a place where you feel very far away without leaving the US. Feel free to leave it for the rest of us.

Well it felt very far away, or at least hard to get to because you have to go by the ferry or plane, and run down. It can be both.

I’ve lived in developing countries before, I don’t expect high-end or luxury all the time. But to me the downsides outweighed the upside for our vacation. I’m also free to say that on this forum.

Of course you are free to say whatever opinions you want, but you might just consider whether your critique is of the specific guest house you stayed in for one night or of the entire island of Vieques.
