Lower back pain from fall -who do I go see?

Anonymous
I fell off a bike 2 weeks ago but scraped my knees pretty bad but the fall sort of shocked my body. My hand is still pretty sore and my back has taken a new throbbing pain. I think it’s the fall. I have had herniated disc issues in the past but this is just constant

Do I see regular internal medicine Dr who will then recommend me to get a scan somewhere or do I call an ortho? Ideally I should have a scan but then I also fear cancer too. I am 45. Or can be anything! Regular dr can see me as early as tomorrow but ortho may take even longer. It’s pain all the time. Sitting standing and laying in bed.

I would see an orthopedic surgeon

Your internal/primary care doctor then refers you to specialist probably pain management.

I prefer to go right to an orthopedist, since my insurance doesn't require a referral and the practice nearby doesn't have a long wait for appointments.

I’d go to your doctor if he could prescribe pain meds and get an order for a scan in while you wait for an ortho appointment.

This is what I’d do. Skip the general Dr. they can’t do anything.
