Skipping a level of high school math

Is it possible to skip a level of high school math?

For example, if a student takes Geometry in 8th grade, can they enroll in Precalculus in 9th, after taking some placement test? Without taking a summer class.

Skipping or doubling up levels in middle school is difficult because the higher level class might not be offered onsite. So it can be easier to study at home during middle school and then make the jump in high school.

Or would summer school be strictly required?

(Please don't debate whether someone you don't know is read for that level. I'm curious about the logistics of this option. )

You can at Blair SMACS. All 9th graders are in either precalc or function (more advanced) no matter they did geometry or algebra 2 in 8th grade

Very misleading. The precal class at Blair is just named precal but they cover the content of Alg. 2 and Precal in the same class so it's like going at double speed but it's not like anyone is "skipping" a level of math

The best way to skip ahead is to take Geometry and Alg 2 simultaneously

That takes up a class period and can't be done retroactively.

You could take a full year math class with Johns Hopkins CTY potentially.

Or you could take a summer school math, if it is offered for students other than those who have failed.

If your counselor knows these are in the works then they can approve the kid going into the next level up in the Fall.

My DD is going to take AP Calc and AP Stats together next year. You can also do things that way.

My student took honors precalculus over the summer in order to skip from Hon. Algebra (10th) to AP Calc AB (11th). It was very difficult to do this class alone online, though, and they did not "skip a level" as you're proposing.
