Babysitting — flyer

My daughter wants to babysit to earn money. Was going to send email via hoa. What do other teens do for contact info? Parents phone? Home phone? Email? Don’t want complete strangers contacting her from safety standpoint. How do teens get babysitting gigs? Any recommendations?

How old is she?

I've seen people post of Facebook mom groups/local city groups. They usually ask if anyone is looking and then PM their kid's information. I found babysitters that way. I also found a babysitter through my Buy Nothing group.

Thanks! She’s 13 per other poster question.

Flyers in the neighborhood with their cellphone on it. These girls are 12-13 and really great. They come and play with my son once or twice a week. I texted them a sand asked to speak to their parent.

The mom came to meet us before they started coming over on their own.

Same! Two girls in my neighborhood did this. They actually would babysit together which was amazing. One could play with toddler or take to playground while the other played board games with the older kids. Best babysitters ever

Would a Google phone number directed to their number work? Or a designated babysitting email?

My tween is twelve and just did babysitting training course. She wants to start as a "mother's helper" or whatever they're called now. It does feel weird to have her in communication with other adults. I've been so indoctrinated by coaching a team that the adult should never reach out to a child without also including their parents.

She needs to be contacted directly. I find it so frustrating and infantilizing when I have to go through the parents.

$10/hr for 1 child $12 for 3.
That was their rate on their flyer. That was total per hour, not each, about 3-4 yrs ago. This was their rate posted on flier

At 13, I have parents go through me. At 15, I ask them to contact my DC directly, but most of them still text me.
For mother's helping $10 an hour.
My kids didn't babysit on their own until 14 and then they asked $15 an hour.
Now my 16 year old is CPR trained they are going to ask $18 and hour for new families.

We always offer to pick them up because I'm worried about parents drinking and driving after a night out.

We have a Google number and it goes to my husband’s cell phone. But when somebody leaves a vm my husband and I get an email with the voicemail linked.

I think a Google number is a great idea at least for the initial contact so a random stranger with ill intentions doesn’t have her direct line. Once it’s established their normal people and normal clients, then they can have her direct number.

Thanks for all the ideas. Appreciate it!

Our neighbors just started advertising their babysitting services (twins in middle school). Their mom posted to local groups and has anyone interested go through her for her kids’ contact info.

We give the kids cell number, and DH or I go over to meet the family with our teen the first time.
