Andy's, We the Pizza

Anonymous
Is We the Pizza good? Or is it typical Virginia pizza.

Same question with Andy's? Anything like NYC pizza.

Both these places are nearby but I'm always weary of pizza in this area.

Andy's is decent, if you like NY style (it's not cheap, though). We the Pizza is not as good as it used to be (at least, in its original location in DC).

We very much like Andy’s, and DH and I are from Westchester/NJ, respectively. Our kids like all pizza

This is what I was looking for! Thanks. Southern NJ native here and while I'm happy to be in this area, def miss pizza A LOT.

Andys is good. Also recommend Wise Guys

Andy,s, hands down. They won the world pizza championship in 2021, besting many big NYC shops. We are lucky to have them here.

NY pizza snob here. Andy’s passes muster. It’s a bit expensive though.

I had wise guys years ago and remember liking but not loving.

+1 - we are also from the same places and really like Andy’s.

I have not been to either, but the “NY pizza snob” thing is a little tired. There’s tons of great pizza in this area. Yes, there is also some bad pizza. This is the same in NY, where there are good and bad pies. I guess my point is NY isn’t the only place you can find good pizza.

NP I find it helpful context in a region where people regularly rave about Ledo's.

I get it. Ledo’s is a love it, or hate it, pizza. I love it, but I grew up with it. I appreciate that if you’re at a pizzeria and expecting a traditional pie and you’re served Ledo’s, it could be off putting.

As much as I like Ledo’s, I also appreciate many other kinds of pizza. At the tops for me are a regular NY pie and a Neopolitan pie.

Near the bottom is probably Chicago deep dish. It tastes great, but so much cheese and meat, makes me feel like I need a coronary bypass after eating.

I disagree. I’m not a food snob at all, but sincd spouse and I moved from NY/NJ to the DC area (15 yrs ago), we now appreciate what we used to take for granted with pizza (and italian food generally), and say the best pizza place back home was the one in your own town (meaning, they are all very good relative to standard pizza here). Another plus of Andys is that you can buy by the slice which is super common in NY/NJ and isn’t here.

I've never understood this. It takes like the Chef Boyardee pizza you make from a box.
