higher income schools

What are parents in public schools like who live in homes that are $700,000-1.5 million?

What type of teachers work best in these type of schools?

I don't think the teachers are as important as the parents. We are a doctor and a consultant, live in an expensive school district, and send our kids to public schools. Teachers are hit and miss, we've had some good teachers and some really poor teachers in MS and HS, but our kids can overcome the teacher's shortfalls by hiring outside tutors.

In some AP classes, they lose teachers during the year and are taught by a substitute the remainder of the year by a sub without any true knowledge of the subject. Benefit is kids can learn to use alternative resources to learn the material, i.e. YouTube and other websites.

I taught in a school like that. It was a public school but parents acted like it was private. They thought the rules didn’t apply to them. They’d go straight to the principal when they weren’t happy with anything. Most parents were very nice people but there were a handful that were very difficult to deal with.

Students are better at learning, which is great. Parents are more demanding, which is extra work. Parents give more expensive gifts, which is valuable.

I’d consider that a middle class area around here. Like W&L in arlington. All kinds of kids, just like everywhere.
