Please suggest foods for this medical situation

I am 47 and getting all my wisdom teeth removed in two weeks. I mention my age because apparently it's a tougher recovery when you're older rather than younger (teens/20's). Two questions:

1. How many days do I have only liquids? I've stocked up on bone broth and water. Is this two days? Three? Just the day of the surgery? What day can I graduate to apple sauce, scrambled eggs and mashed potatoes?
2. I will need to be taking antibiotics three times a day during this time. What can I eat so that I'm taking the medicine with food since I will need to have only liquids for some amount of time?

Thank you. I'm very nervous and very stupid, so your help is much appreciated.

I got my wisdom teeth out at about the same age. I did smoothies for the first day. After that, I ate dog foods like scrambled eggs for a few days.

I thought about smoothies, but was worried about tiny seeds, like from strawberries and blueberries and such. What kind of fruit did you use?

You want nothing with any texture at all, because it can get caught in the wound. So baby purée applesauce, not chunky. You also cannot suck out of a straw in the beginning.

Bananas mashed up and vanilla yogurt will be good.

Creamy soups - they're a bit more filling and substantial than plain broths. Just make sure they are not chunky.

You should get post op instruction from the office.

Yes. I live alone and have a lot of severe learning disabilities (which will probably be worse when in pain and/or on pain killers, based on past experiences with them) so I'm trying to make things as easy as possible ahead of time. Doctor's offices completely ignore my learning disabilities because they don't know how to deal with them at all.

OP you are right, no berries bc of seeds. And as a PP said, no straws.

Vanilla/choco Milkshakes - vanilla/honey/lime etc yogurts - vanilla and chocolate puddings - broths and pureed soup like butternut squash - supplement drinks like ensure and carnation.

And usually after 2 days you can eat soft scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, very soft pastas (overcook them), very soft veggies (I’d get frozen carrots and peas and boil until almost mushy), ripe bananas, applesauce, cottage cheese. Since you live alone I’d stock up on all of this ahead of time so you can get through the first few days without needing to go to a store.

Good luck and all should be fine! Preset reminders on your phone with alarm so you remember to take your antibiotics and any other post-procedure instructions.

My DS recently had a tooth pulled. He ate flavored yogurt, applesauce, canned (or individually packed) pears and peaches.

Kefir or plain yogurt, thinned with water if need be, for good flora when on antibiotics.

These are all good suggestions - keep in mind that you are not supposed to use straws for a little while.

My kids ate small noodles like orzo in broth from the beginning. They do not really need chewing.

MyDH just had this done - no seeds, also no rice which might not be obvious

You got this. You are not stupid. Sending you healing thoughts and positivity, OP.
