In my 60s, but...

Doing well with not too many wrinkles, BUT in the last 2 years the pores on my chin just decided to be main characters out of nowhere, and yes, I have wrinkling around my mouth. I really hate it. Yeah I know without fillers this is what it is, but is there another treatment, serum, procedure that I don't know about that I should be doing? Microdermabrasion, lasers? I hate lip wrinkles, it reminds me of a Roald Dahl poem about a woman looking like a "dog's bottom."
Friends with botox and or fillers look a little mishapen to me and it's a time and $$ investment that seems arduous to maintain.

Help!

A lot of the Dahl character’s look will have been caused by years of disdainful lip pursing.

I know a lot of older British women of this type.

I’ll be following this thread to find a gentler way myself. I’ve just turned 60, I have some wrinkles, I have no intention of doing anything more drastic than a good face cream.

“Courage, mon ami.”

Haven't pursed my lips deliberately or spent time with straws. Have not smoked.
Sunscreen ( now..it wasn't around when I was a child) and lots of moisturizer over the years.

Not that brave going forward

Heavier foundation coverage just on that small chin area. Not near the mouth. No heavy coverage anywhere else really.

OP have you gone to a dermatologist? Like are you already doing tretinoin? If you’re not, that could make a noticeable difference (if it’s appropriate for your skin according to the derm). There are also lasers that could be a good fit.

+1 or a chemical peel but a dermatologist can determine the best course of treatment in your price range.

How does a chemical peel deal with large pores? I feel like it's from sagging.

Diamond glow facials, chem peels, red light therapy and great skincare.

My Derm recommended microneedling. I have HUGE pores on my chin; in my 50s, they came out of nowhere a couple years ago and won't depart.

Kind of wondering what the end game is for all of this? I am 56 and finally at peace with being old/not hot. Have a nice hairdo and wear clothes you like and don’t worry too much about the rest? At 60 plus - does this stress/anxiety/work around the margins get you much in life?? Honestly want to know what the point is at this age.

Niacin serums help with pores. I use it on my nose and pores have diminished.

Did you do the microneedling?

I'm not dead yet. If my teeth were stained, I'd deal with that. No, not interested in looking 40 or plumping up with fillers. I'm not the portrait of Dorian Gray, but watching one's self disintegrate that fast is hard.

Not yet. Even though not as high as other procedures I’m waffling on whether to invest in it since I’ve never done more than topicals.

Apparently patients typically see best benefits after 3 sessions and I am very fair and already burn/freckle easily enough. I spend a lot of time outside, so my plan is to see how I feel after the summer and if I still want it I’ll do it in the fall. (With my Derm. Not at a spa.)

What’s the point of anything?
