CBD gummy for insomnia

Anonymous
this is s/o the other insomnia thread - I live in a state without recreational MJ, but took one of my mom's gummies last time I was visiting and it really helped me sleep. Until I get a medical card, I'd like to order some CBD gummies to serve that purpose - but I get spooked by everything I read online about how there's basically no oversight or regulation of CBD products, and you have no idea how much CBD is really in any of these gummies, etc.

Which leads me here: Anyone have a CBD gummy they've used for insomnia that they feel good about - like it doesn't seem much stronger than advertised, or contain other active ingredients they aren't telling you about?

Thank you!

I live somewhere marijuana is a gray area, and when I was visiting California, I purchased‘s from a dispensary there that were mostly CBD with only a tiny bit of THC mixed in and they have really helped me sleep. I do one often on the weekends just to sort of reset, I wonder if you could order from a dispensary out of state, because I know the dispensary also sold products that were exclusively CBD, but I would imagine higher quality than ordering from Amazon or whatever.

I tried CBD gummies for a while. These are the ones I used (combo of CBD and CBN):

I stuck with it for almost a year and tracked my sleep data using a wearable. Ultimately, it reduced my REM by 16 minutes on average and increased my deep by 5 minutes so I decided it wasn't worth it. That said, I am one of those people whose minds get "hyper-aware" on MJ and I think that is why it didn't work for me. If you aren't in that category, I would give it a shot.

That's a really good idea. I just ordered some CBD sleep gummies from Charlotte's Web - they have one to help you fall asleep, and another that keeps you asleep. The latter is my big issue - I can always fall asleep but then I wake up and that's that, so here's hoping! Thank you for the suggestion - I'm so new to all this I truly wouldn't have thought of it!

Charlotte's Web CBD has been around for a long time, has a lot of endorsements, and makes a reliable product. They have a sleep gummy w/ melatonin I used to use.

Just be careful taking them regularly. Short-term for a specific issue shouldn't be a problem, but there's not nearly enough research into the long-term effects of cannabinoid use, and daily use can lead to withdrawal symptoms. While it's not psychotropic the way THC is, CBD does activate a lot of the same receptors, and can have an impact on your brain, and your guts, in ways you might not expect.

Also, very few "CBD" gummies are completely THC-free. The farm bill allows for the sale of goods containing up to a certain percentage of THC. As a previous poster mentioned, the industry is not at all well-regulated. While I can vouch for my experience with the provider I linked, I wasn't being drug tested regularly. There is a risk of a positive drug test when using the vast majority of CBD supplements (responsible sellers will also tell you this).

interesting! def not looking for less REM - maybe I will track my sleep, too, to see if there is a difference. (i work in a field where we're always looking at analytics - i suppose i could apply that to my own life, too.)

long-term use of cannabinoids can lead to withdrawal symptoms, including insomnia.

thanks for that word of caution - def not looking to mess with my brain. i don't get drug tested so hopefully that, at least, won't be an issue!

Hey there, I completely understand the frustration with the lack of regulation in the CBD market. It can be a real gamble trying to find a trustworthy product, especially when you're looking for something as personal as sleep support.

Here's my experience: like you, I had a similar situation with CBD gummies. They definitely helped me sleep better, and I wanted to find something similar that I could get myself.

Remember, everyone reacts differently to CBD, so what works for me might not be the same for you. But hopefully, my experience gives you a starting point in your search for a trustworthy CBD sleep gummy!

I'm a mid 50s woman. I take a CBD gummy for sleep, as do my DH and all my friends. We all like/use different brands and don't like each others. I think you may need to experiment a bit to find what works best for you.

FWIW, I like Medterra with THC, without melatonin.
