My DC will take the SAT within the next year and I’m looking for a good local (NOVA) tutor, or online prep course. How reliable are those companies that claim to improve your score by 200 points?
Any suggestions? Thank you. |
They are not reliable. |
We did ACT prep through Prep1on1 and drastically improved English (from a 26 to a 31) and Math (31 to 33) scores for a 34 composite. Highly flexible and economical because you only pay for the sessions you need. |
Try Josh Silverman at www.EdgeEd.com wound up gaining 130 points for about 1,000 for class and private sessions. |
My oldest son did free online Khan Academy and got a 1580 on his first try at age 15. He's very smart so that may not be typical. My next one is doing C2 because we cant trust him to self study. We shall see... |
There are plenty of excellent resources that don't require a tutor. |

My kid took this free course - 2 sessions a week for a month. He’s taking the SAT tomorrow

Khan Academy.
That's what all DCUMers claim is used for the 1550 scores, right? |
