Helped me plan multigenerational trip to coastal NC/SC for April 2025

Looking for suggestions on where might be a good fit for the following group with the following requirements/hopes. Trying here before the travel agent route to also get BTDT opinions. Zero familiarity with the area. It's far enough to get away but not so far that it feels difficult. TIA!

Group (all coming from New England during mid April):
-2 grandparents in great shape
-Family of 2 adults/1 teen
-Family of 2 adults/4 kids (1st grade - teen)

Details:
-Ideally condos next door to each other or same development; not wanting a giant single home. We're trying to avoid lots of meals out with so many people in tow -- but also a large enough space for us to have dinner together. If there are hotels that have suites with kitchens I could be convinced of this route.
-Easy beach access if not beachfront; amenities im complex would be great if possible (basketball /tennis/pool)
-Range of activities -- I understand might still be a little cold for swimming (mini-golf, museums/historical, beach time, boating)
-Budget is on the higher side but not luxury
-We would all fly, so recs on where to fly into for your suggested spots also helpful

Thanks again!

OP here. Already see my glaring typo in subject header. Look for future trip, not the past

Wild Dunes Resort. Has a hotel, condos, and houses all in the same development

I would look at Hilton Head. There are places where you can get condos or suites with a kitchen. There's an airport there or you could fly into Savannah and do stuff there.

It will be cold. Save yourself frustration and pick somewhere in FL. Please.

It will be entirely too cold to be on the beach. Go further south. Florida. Or go further and do a nice all inclusive.

That's not true. It wont be warm enough to swim in the ocean or an unheated pool. But it will probably be sixties or seventies and just might hit 80 or so. Could be a cold snap but unlikely and if so you're talking fifties.

Sunset Beach NC has privately owned houses that are rented out thru agencies that are duplexes. Not fancy. Most probably 1980s construction. But gives you two different units with two kitchens.

Put it this way. It will not be warm enough to warrant a multi-gen trip down from New England.

I also wouldn’t do this in April.
I’d look at Amelia Island. Omni has a bunch of condos and you could get them in the same building.

Meant to add you fly into Jacksonville.

Coastal NC person and agree that April is too early here. This April seemed warmer than in the past (haven't confirmed that by looking at historical data), but the ocean is still a bit too cold to enjoy. April can be chilly, especially if it's windy during your stay.

Do the adults golf? Do they all golf? If so, there's something they can do. Kids will like the beach, the sand, but it won't be warm enough to swim. Better have available a real nice, heated pool. Otherwise there will just be lots of complaining about what can't be enjoyed.

Kiawah Island.

Here's some ideas:

Kiawah - by and far the most expensive, a hour drive from Charleston airport, beautiful, quiet, bike rides, beach, golf
Hilton Head - so much more housing, condos, nice hotels, small town area, same as Kiawah with beautiful nature, bike rides, beach, golf, more grocery stores, things to do
Litchfield beach - cheaper option below Myrtle Beach, condos, beach, pools, not bike riding like others and not much golf

I loved Hilton Head during Spring Break. It was 80 degrees every day. But not warm enough for pool and only young kids went into ocean! We played tennis, pickle ball, golf, rode bikes. I think it's better than the summer. But I would agree that if you are coming from NE that some real warmth would be great, and for that I would go to Florida.

NC resident and veteran of many SE spring breaks ...

If you want beach, Miami (Biscayne Key is family friendly), Naples, or Keys. Even Amelia Island will be iffy in April.

That said, if you don't care about beach and are willing to have days where you might have totally crap weather, both Kiawah and HHI will have what you want. At Kiawah if you rent through the resort you can easily all get condos in the same building (as long as you are far enough in advance) and same for Palmetto Dunes in HHI. Both are lovely, Kiawah is more "just on the resort-y" and a bit more isolated (although you can day trip to Charleston, plantations, etc) and and HHI is just all one big upscale tourist town (and you can day trip to Savannah).
