There is no cure.

I will be interested in responses. I didn't think there was any cure. Perhaps ways to manage or reduce.

I find certain foods make it worse, like chocolate or msg. Acupuncture has helped me. But there is no cure. I do sleep with sound machines which makes it more tolerable.

I heard this story about a new treatment not too long ago:

My grandfather had tinnitus after being close to dropped bombs during WW2. He never got rid of it and despite a valiant effort to consume as much gin as possible in the latter part of his life, this did not improve it either.

When I wear my hearing aids during the day, sometimes I can't hear the tinnitus at all. It comes back at night when I take them off, but sometimes it's a bit muted, especially when I've had a loud day and given my ears/brain lots of auditory stimulus.

there is no cure. Some use white noise devices in their offices. I might not hear mine for a day or two, but when there is silence i hear it.

Mine went away when I went on a low inflammatory autoimmune diet (Dr Brooke Goldner’s protocol). My tinnitus began after Covid.

This is OP. Thanks for all posts.
I don’t believe there’s no cure. I trust it is a condition and it can get better and then go away.

I am going to look into this diet that PP mentioned…

My condition is worse when I have a stressful day. Yes, I considered booze when I got desperate but we all know that’s not the answer. It’s just so revealing how bad this condition is that some get badly desperate.

I’m also prioritizing rest and sleep…

There’s no cure.

Susan Shore at Michigan is getting close to a device that helps though.

the best cure is distraction and a healthy life

I have it and white noise machines really bother me.

And yes, certain foods will turn my tinnitus into a buzz. Usually after a heavy meal with dessert and wine.

For me, wearing my hearing aid helps. My dr explained that my tinnitus is brought on by my brain knowing that it’s missing sound that should be there. When I put the hearing aid in it stabilizes something.

There is no cure and acceptance is the only way.
