If so, what was the offer for private vs public colleges and universities? |
Yes. A full ride for four years! |
Merit or financial aid? |
What school? Merit or financial aid/grants? |
It's a kid having fun while taking a break from homework. |
Merit aid at 2 private SLACs but chose in state—full pay. |
Why? That’s not a small income. |
-Only just got to this income recently -Prior student loans just finally paid off -Prior car loans (not fancy cars but still) -All of above meant behind in retirement and trying to catch up -High cost of living area (did ok for awhile by living cheaply in a high crime area but had to go more expensive when we couldn't take the gunshot sounds anymore) -Essentially in the "donut hole" |
Zero. from FAFSA. I think the previous posters are lying. From FAFSA at 250K HHI I think the D of Ed will say you should fund at 100 percent, which is what happened to us |
No financial aid at $200k. Some (decently large) merit aid at lower ranked schools that made them equivalent to in state. |
Modest merit aid from Indiana Bloomington ($10K-ish). $5K/year for Pitt. Nothing from 2 other state schools in-state. Without FAFSA being in, due to processing snafus. |
OK but that's not the question. did you get any financial aid clearance (not merit) via FAFSA? |
Yes to financial aid at a LAC |
Nothing for us. Thankfully DS had his dad's GI Bill, and since he's headed to a service academy, we'll just transfer to his younger sister. It was a wakeup call, though. |
This is exactly us - your financial situation. Zip from FAFSA, sorry. Try merit aid at lower ranked SLACs or do instate public. |
