Summer clinic for new middle school player

Anonymous
My daughter plays for a private MS school team and she is having a great time this year. She plays other sports and hadn’t really considered lacrosse but wants to get better/play more seriously.

Are there any clinics to recommend for middle school girls over the summer? I know of a lot of camps but she is looking for something 1-2/week over June and July that she could attend. Extra points if they are fundamentals heavy (she plays another club sport so doesn’t need conditioning but needs to improve lacrosse IQ). Capital Clinics are sold out. Is the Stars reps program worth doing? Don’t see anything at Pride other than camp.

I understand her window is closing to see if she likes the sport (by next summer she will be left behind). I know she has missed the boat on MS club teams.

TIA.

My DD did this last summer. It's catered more toward beginner/intermediate level.

The Bullis lacrosse camp in June is very good, sounds like what you’re looking for.

Did she just start playing this year or recently? Most summer camps are going to focus on fundamentals, stick skills, and that kind of thing. If she’s a recent player she would probably benefit from any of that and you could set her up with a few different week-long camps over the summer. I don’t know of any regularly-scheduled clinics that happen.

You could also try Healthy Baller. They offer weekly lacrosse classes, although I believe most who attend are pretty good. The STJ Reps program is new, so not sure there’s much info about it out there.

Also, I would not assume it’s too late for her to be on a club team if that’s what she wants. Lots of clubs have B teams - if she’s athletic and has some experience, you never know.

The best thing she can do for her overall stick skills is daily wall ball. Just 15-20 mins every day will make a huge difference in her skills.
