Parents of 2025 Grads

If you have child born in 2007, which had the large amount of births in the history of America beating even the peak year of the baby boomers, are you concerned about college acceptances?

That should be *largest*

For the record, class of 2025 also includes kids born in 2006.

Question is too dumb to answer.

No, as this is not something I can control.

I'm just focusing on the things I can control. For example, helping my DC get a head start on their applications this summer.

I had no idea. I’m concerned but it is what it is. College admissions is just super crazy right now.

I am confident my kid will graduate from a college. It may not be an Ivy or even T20. I’ve taught her to be resilient and make the most of her situation. She will be fine where ever she lands. I can’t control admissions decisions so there’s no point worrying about it.

Like others, I try not to worry about things that are beyond my control. There are a lot of schools where my kid -- and your kid -- could thrive. Try not to fixate on any one of them, and the kids will come out ok. Also, as I keep telling my kid, "eyes on your own paper," which is to say, don't worry about what other people are doing.

Conversely, I have a kid born in 2008, when there was a big birth drop. College counselor already said it will not impact admissions at all.

Most kids born in 2007 are class of 2026.

You already paving the way for an excuse for not getting into a T20? Has your kid done the best they could do? If so they'll get into a great school somewhere.

Looks like there is an urgent need for more schools

Not really. These days it's important to have a few safeties, so if you're really concerned, add 1 or 2 sure thing safeties.

Get the highest SAT/ACT score you can. Start prepping in 9th/10th if your kid needs help.

Go to a selective private HS.

Do a good job/impress teachers.

Do more activities than sports.

Befriend CCO.

Everything works out.

No. 2007 would be class of 2025 for the first 8-9 months, depending upon state. My kid has a summer birthday and so do many of their friends. Only two were redshirted born in 2006
