Any investigative reporters here???

I have a story that someone needs to look into, I'm pretty sure it's political. You guys remember the optum hack that affected insurance companies??? Well they are all back to normal operations except GEHA which is the main federal insurance company. They are literally radio silent on the topic, not processing any claims or payments for about 10 weeks now. All the local dentists are being told to keep treating federal employees and just deal with not getting paid. How can every other company is be back up and running except the federal gov one??? Well this had to be political somehow. What did the hackers steal that they don't want people to know about??? How come this is not a story and not trending? Someone on the inside is killing the stories and stay mute. Someone who is an investigative reporter needs to uncover why they are withholding information about the hack, why they are withholding all payments from the doctors and still expected to treat GEHA patients. Something is fishy! All other insurance companies were back up in 3 weeks!

Maybe GEHA is simply incompetent.

I dont think so, they are huge and very competent. There has to be a story behind this. I really think very sensitive data was stolen from federal employees that are covered by GEHA and the big guys are trying to conceal the truth. Literrarly everyone that was using the Chase Healthcare is back up and things are moving along normally for over a month now.

+a million

Never assign malevolence to that which could also be explained by simple incompetence. This becomes more likely the bigger the organization involved.

Thank you for raising this issue. I have not had claims paid since February, and there's no date for resolution. I've tried to call OPM to get them interested, but to no avail. How can this be? As a federal employee, I think I am paying for insurance coverage that I am not receiving. I should be allowed to switch to another plan, and I will certainly do so in November.

I have thousands of dollars of unpaid claims. If there are any investigative reporters or OPM employees out there, please help.

Unbelievable! Total pause and they expect us to keep treating patients??!? I'm gonna stop seeing GEHA patients until they start paying for processed claims dating back to February.

This sounds like a story for Federal Times.

I have no idea about the theories of the OP, but it is simply mind blowing to me how crazy this GEHA situation is and the lack of attention to it.

I can understand if the data breach caused a disruption for a few days or weeks, but it's been months now. I have a pile of claim issues that I need to sort through and it's just this wall of silence that nobody talks about. I'm one of the lucky ones. I'm sure there are providers and members who have been majorly inconvenienced by this.

Honestly, they should do a mini open season and let feds with GEHA switch to another plan. We're paying for no insurance right now.

United health has said they are not fully back up and running yet. They’ve been transparent on that. Some are coming back online faster than others. It depends on the depth of the hack. FBI and all the federal agencies are already involved. But yes, way to go Sherlock.

United healthcare is the “never pay” company, and they underwrite GEHA. UHC is terrible in everything it does. For many years I had a great federal insurance program - on paper it’s still absolutely fabulous- but they switched underwriters to United and then claims started getting second guessed and denied, holds to talk to the company were three hours and you’d get disconnected once through, and doctors started dropping them. I switched to federal Blue Cross and never looked back.

Despite all that, it’s still likely incompetence and the results of bad management and staffing over decades rather than malevolence.
