Adelphi pool

We will be on our neighborhood pool wait list at least another year so mulling joining Adelphi pool which is about 15min away. Anyone who’s been think it’s worth the 1200 to join? Or inside info on whether the reno will be ready on time? Thanks!

1200 to join a pool directly next to a cemetery? That renovation would need to be spectacular. Both of the Hillandale pools are not far from Adelphi and usually have short/nonexistent waits

1200? That's twice what my pool is!

Pool should be open on time. Yes it's worth it. The fee you are talking about includes 1x membership fee and cap improvement fee. Having been at pools without cap improvement fees I am a big believer in it as it means less cost when a renovation needs to be undertaken (a normal one not a full scale rebuild and expand pool as what Adelphi has done). It's a nice community and the pool should be fabulous with lots for all different age families. You can't (and shouldn't) compare the price to an unrenovated pool that isn't saving towards renovation (no cap improvement fee). There are other nice pools in the area but when shopping around make sure you are comparing apples to apples in terms of price.

I am also optimistic that the renovation will be done on time--maybe not the finishing touches, but I think we will have cement holes in the ground with water in them.

As for is it worth it, it really depends on how you plan to use it. Will your kids join swim team? How often will you go? Do you know anyone else there?

We have a ton of friends there and tend to go 2-3 weekdays every week and then one weekend afternoon. I have one kid who loves to swim and two are pretty meh about it, but they love to hang out with their friends nonetheless. We usually have dinner there with friends at least one night a week.

So, it is totally worth it to us, and we are counting the days!!

Hillandale is open; West Hillandale has a 200+ wait list

Op here- have applied at both Hillandales and let’s see what happens. Thanks! I don’t think we would make it 3x a week, kids too little for swim team, and we plan to switch next year so 1200 doesn’t seem worth it.
