Bored… what should I do with my evenings?

Anonymous
I am finding that I am wasting away my evenings surfing the internet or playing mindless video games. I don’t watch tv even.

Two kids - one a HS senior and the other a middle schooler. DH coaches the middle schooler’s sports team and takes them to individual practices on off nights. The senior has a spring sport and is rarely home until 8 or so.

I am bored out of my mind but I don’t know what to do. I clean up the kitchen and maybe do a bit of picking up.

What do you do in your free time? Most days I am talking about some range of hours between 3-9 pm.

exercise at 5pm then cook dinner, clean up after dinner

Other hobbies that I do in the evening hours: reading, knitting and walking over to a neighbor's house for wine.

Take a class in something you've always been interested in or a skill you want to improve.

I do pottery one night a week, and a workout/dance class.

OP here… I should have mentioned that I do read books, but generally before bedtime. I work out in the mornings.

Wow OP what do you do for work that allows you so much free time at night? It’s a great opportunity to invest or develop new hobbies when you have so much predictable evening free time. I’m jealous!

Here’s what I would do - play the piano, meet up with my Argentine tango partner to practice or go to an evening class, read, paint, meal prep for future, bake something delicious, get ahead on chores, maybe a phone date with a friend who lives far away, practice my non-native languages or learn a new one.
