I'm trying to get my son to enjoy reading again. In elementary and middle school, he loved those books by Mike Lupica, Matt Christopher, Jason Reynolds, etc. Does anyone have recommendations for fun, exciting sports books for a 16 year old reluctant reader? |
Maybe it’s time to stop trying to force this. Your kid is 16. He has the internet and could find books if he wanted. He likely doesn’t want your suggestions on sports books.
I’m an adult and don’t novels in my free time. I read lots of news and articles on the internet and read the equivalent of novels on DCUM. I did well in grad school and have a career but stopped reading actual books when they were no longer required in school. |
*before anyone else comments, maybe my grammar would be better and there would be fewer typos if I read more. |
How about Across the River? Or The Point After? |
Season on the Brink by Bobby Knight
Sacred Hoops by Phil Jackson |
What about biographies? My son reads those (baseball) |
How about books by Tim Green? He was a NFL player and Rhodes Scholar.
I actually went to law school with him. He went in spring only. Nicest guy but sadly now battling ALS. https://www.google.com/search?q=tim+green+books&rlz=1CDGOYI_enUS902US922&oq=tim+green&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUqBwgCEAAYgAQyDQgAEAAY4wIYsQMYgAQyCggBEC4YsQMYgAQyBwgCEAAYgAQyBwgDEAAYgAQyBwgEEAAYgAQyBwgFEAAYgAQyBwgGEAAYgAQyCwgHELkBGIAEGO8EMgcICBAAGIAEMgcICRAuGIAE0gEINTY3NGowajSoAgGwAgHiAwQYASBf&hl=en-US&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8 |
Correction Rhodes Scholar candidate |
Yes, thank you, he very much enjoyed the Tim Green books during his middle school years. I sure wish there were similar series for high schoolers. Does anyone know of some? |
