How do Offers work?

Anonymous
Do clubs only send out offers? Or will they also send out rejection decisions? Is it possible to not hear anything back at all, and just have to assume it's a no?
Anonymous
Yea, we have never had a rejection sent. Just offers and you accept or decline it. If you have not heard anything you are either not in the first wave of offers and or not going to get one. Reach out to the coach if you are curious and follow up if it is a club your kid wanted to be a part of.

100% club specific.

Most eventually send out a group decline when the process is over, but in some cases, they won’t even go out until June. Lots of moving parts with filling the top team down, especially since the tryouts a different clubs can sometimes occur weeks apart!

One time our daughter received a decline from Arlington and then four weeks later received an invite to come for an additional tryout in mid June.

LOL. Not paranoid, just new to the travel soccer world and seeking understanding of the process.

Big clubs take time to move through filling each roster. Once they get confirmation on the 1st team they move on to making offers for the 2nd and so on. In our experience the 1st team is usually finalized by the end of tryouts, 2nd team offers started going out day after tryouts. 3rd team up to 5 days after tryouts. 4th/5th could be quite a while down the line due to slow responses and declines. If the club gets enough declines they may do a callback for the lower teams.

Big clubs usually have their top team filled already. They might leave one or two spots open in case there is someone who comes to tryouts and blows them away.

There are big clubs like SYC that will send offers to everyone who comes to try outs so they can fill teams and take your money.

It depends. My ds got a Valor fourth team offer the same day his friends got a second team offer. So while your method would make sense, it doesn't seem like that's how some clubs do it.

Bethesda Sent this out about try outs;

I hope everyone is well!

Tonight is the first night of tryouts. Please arrive 20 minutes before your tryout starts and ensure you check in at the tent.

RULES and FORMAT FOR ALL TRYOUTS

Non-Bethesda Players should wear a white T-shirt, dark shorts, and dark socks. All Players should bring a ball and water. All non-Bethesda players will receive a number for tryouts. You will need to keep this number for your second tryout.

The tryout format will be small-sided games after a short warm-up. The staff will move players into different groups during the session to evaluate them. Every player receives a placement during the session. Invites for teams go out to players during the entire tryout window (4/30-5/10). The club tryout period ends on May 10, and every player who attends will receive communication from the club by Sunday, May 12.

We will see you tonight!

That is not true, sir. Not all clubs will freely accept players just to get keep their revenue going.

From SYC

Tryout offers:
Offers happen on a rolling basis - this means that offers can start happening after day 1 and continue throughout the 3 dates, as well as a few days after the final tryout. If you do not hear anything from us 1 week after the final tryout, please reach out.

At our club, all offers go out at the same time. If higher team has openings, kids will be moved up and then additional offers will go out for the bottom team. That's the ideal. In practice, we're a small club that wants bodies and everyone gets a bottom offer. Depending on how many kids decline higher team offers, the bottom teams rosters are either way too small or way too large.

This happened to us too. Then after the additional tryout, got an offer for a middle team.
