Villarreal - high school boys

Anonymous
Can anyone tell me about this club at the high school level for boys? What is the coaching like? How many teams? How do the teams form for games?

Anyone?

Have not heard about Villarreal in a long time on this board. Did club folded?

It's still around. Mostly athletes from Justice and Annandale HS with a few ex-Loudoun players who moved after they lost their money during the Covid year. The teams are prodominently composed of Hispanic players.

Their 2010s (rising freshmen) are excellent.

Arguably the best 2010 boys team in the DMV?

2009 and 2010 really good teams! Other high school age less so. The fact they don’t get a lot of talk here probably means the parents are sane.

The 2010 boys are amazing. One of my kids who does not play soccer is friends with one of the players.

I think the club has a ton of potential teaching the kids the spanish method of playing. We have played their girls teams in tournaments and they were good. The coaches seemed very knowledgeable and gave really good feedback on the field. Our entire sideline was super impressed. I Would absolutely check them out but they are too far of a drive for us currently. If my kid stays with the sport and wants to develop i would be willing to commit to the drive.

As others have said, the 2010 and 2009 boys teams are excellent. I love watching them practice while my U-Little kid plays. I think those are the kids who have been with the club since it came to the US? I get the sense the club lost a lot of players during Covid, but the lower ages are starting to rebuild. Don't know anything about the 2008 and older teams.

We just went for tryouts there and loved it. Not the age group the poster is asking about. But the coach for our age group actually ran a practice/tryouts with drills, sprints, PK game and a small scrimmage. Out current team only does low intensity scrimmages during practice so this was a nice change. We have other tryouts to attend but so far this is our top choice. We talked to a couple parents at pickup and we heard only positive things.

It does seem the club is on the smaller side which we are fine with.

That club knows what they are doing. Some teams within the club are first class and the others are not far behind. They have a plan for development and have proven it works.

They cheat a lot by bringing in randoms to roster. Don't be shocked for your kid to look up and see a few SYC kids just show up to take away their mins.

My son plays ECNL RL and has been playing against the 2010 boys for years. It's always basically the same kids- not sure what the cheating reference refers to. And they are great. Dominate the ECNL RL and could definitely beat many ECNL teams.

Seen it at 09, 07, and 06s. Yes they cheat on league games, caught before and at tournaments. I coached a 2010 team in a tournament where we played them in the first game, we then faced them again in the finals. 1/2 the team was new and they had to remove 4 players that were not on the roster. Win and loose with what you got, the poor kid grinding gets benched with another player just so they can win? Not my style.
