Anyone have a child at Dartmouth, what's ur experience? And what are the feeder schools in DC to Dartmouth |
There are no feeder schools into T20 universities. |
Not accurate. Just look at the instagrams for the 2024 college placements of by NYC or Mass private school. |
There’s no such thing as a feeder school for Dartmouth, except maybe Hanover High, but Potomac is sending at least four this year based on their class Instagram page. |
"feeder"? Not local, but in the context of the downhill and nordic teams, then definitely places like Burke Mountain Academy, Stratton Mountain School, and Sun Valley Community School.
Locally, Dartmouth is a place that people choose in a deliberate way that they don't necessarily do for other Ivies, so which schools send kids there varies a lot from year to year. |
I tend to disagree with you but regardless, OP asked about DC schools. There are no *DC* feeder schools into T20s, if that makes you happier. |
Sidwell & St.Albans seem to be feeders to Chicago, but Chicago is the only T20 school that takes a disproportionate number of private school kids. |
There have been severals threads re: Dartmouth over the past few months. Use the search function. |
Changing this year? Private high schools are having SUCH a good year with private T25….. |
Can you say more about what you mean here? My 11th grader fell in love on a visit last year but hasn't come up with the list of where they'll apply. |
STA is almost a sure thing at Dartmouth if you have a GPA over a XX number. The Naviance is entirely green. |
Yes, DC loves it! None of the nonsense you see on the news happening at other campuses. Kids can roam and have fun without worrying about crime. Small classes with professors who love interacting with their students. Don’t know about feeders. |
“American education might benefit from a few more Dartmouths” - final words on 60 Minutes last night. |
From Virginia privates, Dartmouth and Cornell are slightly lower bars than the other ivies, as far as unhooked kids, bot no VA or DC schools feed like the Boston and NY privates. Have multiple friends w kids at Dartmouth and they love it. They are not hard partiers despite the reputation of the school. Dartmouth does not have the top-20-in the world-ranking research vibe of the top four ivies but it is a national "feeder" to top US jobs in all sectors and the connections with professors have helped them get internships and/or paid research early. |
Which is 4th of the top 4 Ivys? Penn or Columbia? |
