Family members that have inability to feel joy, also unable to express happiness for anyone, and willfully and intentionally want someone who is experiencing joy to suffer. Depression? Anxiety? Something else? |
Do you know this for a fact? Your family member told you they want others to suffer? Or are you speculating?
|
Basing experience on their actions, not words. OP here. |
It could be anything from anxiety to sociopathy, OP. You can't really diagnose it unless you're a psychiatrist or psychologist. |
I am asking for layperson opinion pertaining to personal experiences. If you have nothing to add, that is fine, but don't encroach on other people's posts. You seem to be taking this personally and looking to derail. |
I call this my mother. |
Emotionally stunted? Stoic? Lacking in verve and vitality? |
lol lol SAME! |
Sociopathy if it's real and not just OP being catty.
|
Same. My mother can never express happiness for anyone, especially her own children on otherwise joyous occasions. |
Complex PTSD
Abuse from childhood |
OP here. It is a man, not a woman, if that matters (it should not). |
OP here. Yes, this - not allowing someone to enjoy their day, or their victory, or similar. |
ie: even and especially if it has nothing to do with them. Similar to jealousy, but amped up to outrageous proportions, and definitely not trying to hide it. What makes them fixate on being miserable? |
Give us an example. |
