Microclover lawn?

Microclover lawns - whats the experience with them? We need to resod or reseed our entire backyard post construction.

Looking for lawn alternatives that need less maintenance/fertilizer.

We will have some native plant garden areas but we want some open space for the kids to play back there. Might eventually get a dog?

It's fine but not great for foot traffic

Sorry no direct experience.

We have done a clover lawn in our backyard. It is absolutely gorgeous and we get compliments on how lush and green it is all the time. That said, it grows much higher than they claim it does. It really is only micro at the very beginning of growth, I think if it was front yard you would probably still want to mow occasionally for what that is worth.

I put in some clover seed. We have a ton of foot traffic from our kids, so it didn't take long term in our yard, but it moved over to our neighbor's yard (she doesn't mind.). Some other neighbors also planted it and it's doing well there.

Basically, if you have kids or frequent foot traffic it won't work, but it's a great option if you don't. But you might want to check with your neighbors if you share a lawn with them as your choice will definitely migrate to their lawn.
