smoking weed while driving is so out of control

Why do we accept driving while high? Yes, you can absolutely kill people while driving high, because it is still DWI. Everywhere you go these days you smell copious amounts of weed while driving or as pedestrians and smelling weed billowing out of cars. You can smell weed in parking lots, all over city streets, and even on major highways like I95 and the beltway that are emanating from cars. It is disturbing how many people are driving 80 mph while high. It's not like it is just Friday night either. You can constantly smell weed at like 6:45 AM on a Tuesday morning while commuting to work, or Saturday at 11 AM when you're in the parking lot at a store. Americans have shown time and time again they cannot control themselves and consume their drugs with modesty. When you do your drugs and endanger other people around you, then it is a problem, not a free choice. They should be routinely doing DWI checks and suspending licenses of anyone driving while smoking weed in the car. Triple the fines too if they're caught on major highways with speed limits above 50 mph.

How did you vote OP?

I agree. Driving high is no different from driving drunk. The MD GA basically encourages high driving with their permissive high driving laws, and then they wonder aloud why accidents are up across the state since they passed these stupid laws in order to line their own pockets because the MD governor has his money invested in weed equities.

All reported by local media, not my opinion. Check Maryland Matters for details.

Cannabis makes me a much better driver than I am when I’m straight. It heightens my focus and sharpens my reflexes. I can drive safer at 85 or 100 mph after a few gummies than I can at 30 mph without.

You've obviously been hitting those gummies.

What “permissive high driving laws”?

So tired of these posters who act as if there is an obvious MAGA solution to every problem. If we just voted for Robin Ficker every social ill would go away.

+1. This is just basic science.

I commented about this a few months ago and was met by a lot of skepticism. People don’t think people are smoking weed while driving. People questioned where I lived and what areas this is happening in because it couldn’t possibly happen where they live. Well, it’s happening everywhere and it’s a real problem. I voted against it. Clearly I was out voted and I know many people regret it. I don’t know if they would vote the same how that would turn out, but this is an issue that needs to be addressed because to me it is the same as drinking and driving, which I also oppose.

I'm pro-legal weed, but the people who think they are better drivers when high (not just pp, I know a few as well) are f**king idiots ruining this for everyone else. I think we really need better road side testing for it, and people need to be severely punished for driving in such a dangerous manner.

No one accepts the excuse that people are better drivers while tipsy, there is no excuse to drive while intoxicated by any sort of substance.

Driving while high is illegal; that wasn't on any ballot. (FTR I voted no because I knew the city would reek, and I was right, it does).
