Wheelchair accessible Maryland nature outlook

Any locations that have a minimal wheelchair accessible path / outlook within 1 hour drive from DC, bonus if there is a restaurant / bbq / grill close by.

Great Falls?

Cunningham Falls State Park has one I think! Definitely check me on this because I don’t know what “minimal” means in this context but I’m sure there are reviews.

This is where it is. I know it’s a little farther than you specified.

This is also farther than you specified but Shenandoah has a nice loop trail that is labeled accessible, called Limberlost. No overlooks I can recall on the trail but of course there are a lot you can drive to along the road.

Thanks PP.

Yes, it should just be “wheelchair accessible” without the word “minimal” - it got probably autocorrected as I was typing / deleting.

Here’s another option:

Also its short and near a highway, but the kennilworth aquatic gardens has a boardwalk into the wetlands with some nice views that is obviously very close.

Patuxent Research Refuge has a short paved looped path coming off from the visitor center. They used to offer great tram rides through some of the refuge, but I don't see it on their webpage right now -- not clear if it just hasn't started for the season or if this is another casualty of COVID cuts. You could maybe call and ask them, if the individual is able to transfer to a tram.

Another idea is that Seneca Creek state park does pontoon boat tours of the lake -- again, if the individual can transfer to a pontoon boat, that might be a nice way to see the nature sights.
