Getting a refund for a refundable flight

Anonymous
Can any travel experts help me out? Apologies if this is a dumb question.

I booked refundable flights from the US to Europe for early June via KLM and unfortunately have to cancel the trip. Today I canceled the tickets on KLM’s website and the message says that the refund amount is “to be determined” and “we still have to determine which products in your booking are refundable. Refundable amounts depend on various conditions … we will check these products manually and will refund once they are processed.”

Is there a chance I won’t get a full refund? I understand that I’ll have to eat any exchange rate differences but could there be other issues?

Once I canceled a refundable KLM flight without having this issue, but it was a flight within Europe so maybe it’s different

You should be fine. I think that's just boilerplate language because fare rules are complex. They just want a person to vet the fare type you purchased before approving the refund.

Thank you, I hope so. I had a moment of panic, thinking I canceled and will still be stuck paying thousands of $. What scares me is that I can't find my reservation anymore (since it's canceled), which stated that the fares were refundable.

Sometimes baggage and seat fees are not refundable.
