Curfew for 17 year olds

For parents who have kids this age or older: What should the regular curfew be for a 17 yo boy and a 17 yo girl? This is for regular outings (not parties) on Fri and Sat nights.

We don't have a curfew. It depends where they are going. They tell me a place and propose a time to return and it's on a case by case basis. I usually don't want to be up past midnight waiting on them but I will certainly make exceptions. If they are going to be out that late at a friend's house they will usually sleep over.

Midnight for my twin 17 year olds. They'll be 18 in September.

It's been their curfew since they were 15 but i really don't see any reason for them to be out later. They're social kids and don't seem to mind this--they're so busy with school etc. during the week that they're ready to come home and sleep by midnight.

We don’t have one, but that said, he’s never out later than 11 by his own choice.

Typically midnight since they can't drive past then until they are 18y. But if DS is hanging at his BFF's house and his mom is willing to drive him home at 1am...fine my me.

My 15yr old is midnight but she is mostly home by 11pm

12, or 1 if she’s close by at a known friends house. Most of her good friends live within a 5-10m drive

Wow that is eye opening. My kids make it seem like everyone is out until 3am.

By 17 both my older kids were in college so they told us when they'd be home. They generally say somewhere between 11pm and 1am, and if it'll be later than that they plan to sleep over.

In case you mean 12th grade, our rule was that they'd tell us where they wanted to go and with whom and what time they wanted to be home from that. We'd decide if it was reasonable or not and go back and forth a bit.

What does that matter? She likes going to mall/9pm movies just like I did as a high schooler.

Dave n Busters and then Silver Diner after

Friend’s house to watch a movies

You think I should have my high schooler home at 10pm?

She was at Bar Mitzvahs until 1am in 7th grade.

Of course they do because they want a later curfew and guess what? Some are out that late. But don’t change your rules based on others

My 16yr old plays a travel sport so curfew on nights before games is 10pm. Otherwise it’s midnight on Fri and Sat and 10:30pm on Sundays.

Midnight if driving. 1am if local or no driving.
