Best feeder school for Langley?

I am living in a condo in DC with my 2 and 4 yr old kids and looking to move to the Langley pyramid before my youngest starts kindergarten.

Is there an elementary feeder school that is better than the others? Do more of the top Langley grads come from one school vs. another?

I can’t guarantee that my kid will get into AAP, so I’m looking for a strong gen ed and a strong AAP school.

Cost is not much of an issue.

Find a neighborhood you like - that has a decent commute. My Langley HS teens went to Churchill Road. Loved it, loved the community. Have heard good things about Spring Hill, Forestville, and Great Falls too. That said, families whose teens went to Chesterbrook, Haycock, and Kent Gardens (McLean pyramid) have had positive experience too. I hope you find a community that feels like home.

Colvin Run is terrific for gen ed kids. All three of mine went through Colvin and were super-strong high school students.

All of the elementary schools that feed to Langley are very good. Hard to say that one is materially better/worse than another. Our kids are at Great Falls and we think it's a great school. Our friends with kids at Colvin Run and Forestville feel the same way about their schools.

If it matters to you, Great Falls, Forestville, and Churchill Road are much smaller than Colvin Run and Spring Hill. Some people like a bigger school and some like a smaller school (and some don't care).

Churchill ES is good but don’t live in the neighborhood, 495 is practically your backyard. Too much car exhaust. Luckily kids stay inside for gym.

Then Cooper is basically on the beltway.

Churchill would be my choice if money was no object. Inside the beltway, close to Tyson’s and DC, nice new builds within walking distance or older homes with land off of Georgetown Pike. And then you are close to Cooper. Our friends at Colvin Run hate the bus commute to Cooper.

+1. Churchill is closest to Cooper and Langley if you plan to stay in the pyramid through high school. Those are the only homes within walking distance to the middle and high school. I don’t think freeway exhaust impacts most of the neighborhoods. The only problem area is near the 495 entrance on Georgetown Pike, and the traffic up there can be terrible.

Definitely consider your commenting/daily driving needs. There are some beautiful homes and neighborhoods zoned for Churchill Road, Spring Hill, and Great Falls that require Georgetown Pike. Expanding from a PP’s comment, traffic at the 495 entrance is usually terrible, and this can impact Georgetown Pike for quite a distance. Would definitely recommend checking out the area during times you anticipate being on the road to help give you a feel for what you’re dealing with.

Girl, I have a kid at Cooper right now and I drive through the intersection every morning on my way to work, and many evenings to pick my kid up after drama rehearsals. 5:00 is the worst, but all other times are fine. You just have to know how which roads to take and when.
