Do your neighbors know your touchpad code? |
Absolutely not. Our dog-sitter needs a code, but we change it for them to come and then change it back to our regular code when we've returned. We give them a new code each time. |
I have a “maintenance” code that I turn on and off as needed (housekeepers, contractors, dog walkers, etc). If my neighbor needed to get into my house, I would turn on the “maintenance” code. |
Next door neighbors (townhouse) know the code. I have theirs, too.
No one has ever gone into someone's house without permission, like to bring in a package when away. It's fine. I trust them not to give out code out. |
They have their own code which we can activate and dis activate on the app. We can see the time they access our house. |
I have my neighbor’s code. I help with their dogs if they have appointments |

One neighbor knows it.. we are in a townhouse.. they don't have a key pad option on theirs.. |
You sound extremely high maintenance having to change the code every time. Just turn of access when you've returned. |
Our neighbor's teenager takes care of our pets when we're away, so she has a code. I could change it, but I don't.
I don't see how it's a big deal. I get an alert anytime someone opens the door with a code and it tells me which code was used, plus there are cameras. If I trust her to come to the house when we're away, I certainly trust that she's not going to try and sneak in at other times. We have a key to her (parent's) house. |
I suppose this isn't the same as an actual entry door, but we've given our garage code to neighbors to bring in any unexpected packages. They don't have access to any entry doors so they could snoop in our exciting tool chest but that's about it. I'm not sure I'd be so free to give out codes that would lead directly into our home. Our trusted cleaning lady of over ten years does have a key. |
You could do one code on the actual door and another code for the Ring alarm so that you would know if they entered w/o permission. |
