Would love any recommendations of schools with approximately 5,000-10,000 undergraduates that your student loves. Can be competitive but not looking for top 20-25. TIA |
Tulane |
We liked Lehigh and it’s still in the running. |
WashU is that size. DC is very happy there. |
Fairfield is around 5500 and I think a nice size. Might be having some growing pains with forced triple housing and class schedules though. |
If you consider the consortium and contiguous campuses, the Claremont Colleges have about 8000 students. Scripps is terrific for women who benefit enormously from all female student leadership, but enjoy the addition of men in many classes, learning environment and social life. Pretty campus and excellent food, too. Admit rate is more accessible than Pomona. |
Well, these aren’t at ALL competitive, but this size seemed to be the sweet spot for the public schools my child considered. Radford is in her top 2 (still deciding), but she also applied to Slippery Rock (PA) and Northern MI. Two more that were on our radar were Bloomsburg (PA) and Salisbury (MD)
I believe my alma mater now falls in this category-Wake Forest. It was smaller when I was there in the 90s. |
+1. DD attends and loves it. The medium size perfect - big enough to be R1 but small enough that she knows all of her professors and as an undergrad has had access to great research opportunities. |
Boston College |
Georgetown
William & Mary |
Northeastern U and Tufts in Boston |
Wake Forest, Georgetown, Rice and Boston College. |
Case Western Reserve |
Elon is about 6,000. |
William & Mary: by student quality it is T25 but rankings are not legit anymore. |
