How many shorts and tees does your 4th grader have? Trying to figure out a decent number and not have too much either. We do laundry once a week.

We're down to probably 5 tops, 5 bottoms, and a few dresses. She was refusing to put away clothes or care for them in any way. So she agrees to pick out a few favorites and everything else has been packed away.

OP here- should have mentioned I am asking for a boy so no dresses. 😂

I find 10 tees and about 5 bottoms seems to be enough for laundry once a week. We try to re-wear things at least once but my kids typically end up getting dirt or food on their tops.

We have way more than that. 5 bottoms is not enough for summer. After camp my boys would come home, shower and change into clean clothes (top and bottom).

Agree 5 is not enough for summer. We have 10-15 t-shirts and then problem 8-10 shorts, plus a couple pairs of joggers for cooler days. 2 hoodies.

We still do laundry twice a week though. As a PP noted, in summer our kids change more frequently because they get very dirty/sweaty at camp or playing outside. Add in swim and that's more changing. Plus I'd say about a third of the wardrobe is stuff that is kind of on its way out -- in the summer we hold onto stuff I wouldn't normally let them wear to school because it's looking a little worse for the wear, but it's nice to have stuff that you just don't care about so if it gets ripped or something, you can just toss it without regret.

Then when school starts, we'll update anything that is getting too small or looking ratty, usually new shoes since by August even if the sneakers still fit, they look a mess. We buy higher quality clothes for colder months because it matters more, and we'll sometimes buy a size up if it doesn't look to baggy to get more wear out of it. But we can also get away with less clothing in the winter, and will do less laundry.

Six pairs of shorts. Probably 8-10 t-shirts (including hand-me-downs, gifts, etc).

8-9 outfits if you do laundry once a week

My DC has way too many .. atleast 10 tops and 10 bottoms maybe more. I get tired of seeing him in the same outfit.
