Color theory

Does anyone know of a good color theory person in the area? I think I’m an autumn and want to figure out the best colors for me to wear.

Honestly, color theory is a scam. Just try on colors that appeal to you, and the ones you feel good on are the colors that suit you. Don’t overthink this.

It's not a scam but I wouldn't pay someone to do this. If there is a certain color you get compliments on, then it looks good.

I don't think color theory is a scam.

Some color make people look washed out, and some colors look more vibrant.

There was just a thread about this a few weeks ago and somebody recommended District Color in DC and said it was amazing and totally worthwhile. Said she spends less money on clothes now bc she now knows what colors to avoid and what actually looks good on her.

You don't need this, it's BS.

You do, however, like everyone, look better in some colors than others. You just have to figure that out for yourself. Holding the color just below your face and looking in a mirror helps. Think about your favorite tops, the ones you feel really attractive in. What color are they?

If I posted my coloring on here I wonder if fashion/style savvy posters would be able to make a recommendation? Or do you need to see someone in person??

While I also wouldn't pay anyone for this, I do think certain colors look better than others on people. The problem is, we all see color differently. I have tried watching those videos where they have a person sit and then swatch samples of fabric over them so you can see how it changes whether they look washed out, or good and I swear to you I never see anything different. It all looks the same. Meanwhile in the comments people will disagree. So you do you.

There’s an online app- I think it’s called colorwise? I uploaded a photo and it gave me a palette of colors that I think was accurate because a lot of the colors were what I already know is flattering.
