we adopted our dog from HT, made several more donations to them over the years, and they turned us down for a Beagle puppy rescue from Environ Labs last year. Their reasoning? Was told over the phone - which I kick myself for not recording - “we want to adopt them out to new adopters who haven’t adopted from us previously”. Presumably because it will further expand their database of adopters who will then make further donations.

Will NEVER have anything to do with HT again.

The above poster with the financial analysis is on-point. They’re not about dogs. They’d about $$$.

It looks like their revenue is 2.8M and their expenses 2.7M with an exec comp of $117k. Hardly egregious.

It looks like $1.9M in contributions and $888,256 in "program services" - wouldn't that be the rehoming fees?

I don't know this specific organization, but many rescue organizations pay for dogs' medical care, training, and of course food, flea and tick etc. There are certainly easier ways to make a buck.
