Anyone get a high result on a non fasting glucose test?

Anonymous
Mine was 106 - it’s supposed to be below 100. I’m not overweight and work out every day. Anyone else had this? Does it mean I am prediabetic?

When was the test taken? Morning or afternoon? Had you had a meal, breakfast, lunch, snack, earlier? Or a workout? Are they also checking your a1c?

My doctor said not to worry about a 103 since my a1c was normal.

I thought it was supposed to be under 100 if you were fasting. And maybe like 130 on a non fasting…

Yes, pre-diabetic.

This is fine. This whole blood sugar TikTok / CGM thing is so wildly out of control it’s ridiculous.

The ranges are based on fasting glucose only because you really should only be testing glucose when fasting except during pregnancy. There should be an asterisk on your lab portal that states this. Non fasting- so if you ate 6-8 hours prior to the blood draw- has a normal result when less than 140.

Sounds fine.

I had a result of just under 100 fasting, but I hadn't eaten in 15 hours and it said it may not be accurate if you had fasted for more than 10 hours or something like that. My A1C is also fine but I'm worried that I may also be pre-diabetic. Does anyone know if having fasted for longer than the recommended time is more likely to return a higher number?

I had something similar - 109 glucose at an appointment in the afternoon, so I had eaten lunch beforehand. I never work out & am about 40 pounds overweight. All my other blood glucose are under 100 and my A1C is in normal range. Doc said a non-fasting glucose slightly above 100 is nothing to worry about.

Because you are supposed to fast. Don’t worry.
