Weight loss drugs for just a little weight loss

Anonymous
I'm 5'7 pounds. My eating is out of control and has been since 2019. I can't get through even one day without binging on sweets. I don't know why I don't weigh even more. I am 46 years old. Through my 20s and 30s I weighted about 132 pounds which is my nice, most attractive weight. Now none of my clothes fit well and I feel disgusting. I will start the day out well with some oatmeal and fruit, and then a salad for lunch, but then the cravings hit and I eat multiple candy bars, down a sugary Starbucks drink, donuts, etc.

I am a smart, successful person and I feel so angry and disgusted with myself that I just cannot control these cravings. At the first stab of hunger, I just freak out, and nothing makes me feel better but junk food. So I have been thinking about trying those weight loss drugs in the news...Ozempic or Wegovy or something. Is it something that could work for me short term? Would anyone even prescribe it to me? I don't have any health issues...weirdly all my numbers (blood pressure, cholesterol) are good. BMI is even ok, but for me, this weight is not healthy, and I am eating way too much sugar and empty calories.

I would like to lose 10-15 lbs.

If you fudge your height and weight a little, you can get it from an online medspa. I considered going this way, but ultimately I know the hunger will be the same when I have to maintain. So I might as well suffer through now too and gain experience/strategies not to overeat. But every once in a while I’m tempted!

Meant to say I'm 5'7 and 145 pounds.

Thanks. I'm so mad at myself and I don't want to take medication, but it's been literally five years of nearly daily resolutions that I'm going to stop eating junk food and then I just cannot do it. If I could do it on my own I think I would have by now. Anyone else tried this when you're not technically overweight but just feeling gross, clothes too tight, and eating poorly in general?

So your BMI is 22.5 and you want weight loss drugs?

You need a therapist or a reality check, not Ozempic.

Two things may be happening:

Either you have a new peri-menopausal set weight now. Which is is literally normal. And healthy. And frankly a blessing that you can maintain that weight while eating sugary snacks (seriously, enjoy that).

Or, you just need to cut out the Starbucks or replace it with something no calorie/lower calorie and see what happens.

I mean this kindly.

Weight loss drugs are a terrible idea for you.

Your problem isn't weight, it's what you are eating IF you are feeling bad.

More protein. Less sugar.

Try yogurt and fruit and an egg for breakfast.

Try tea or a diet drink and hummus and crackers or cottage cheese and berries instead of Starbucks and a donut. Or string cheese. Or an actual sandwich with meat and whole wheat bread instead of a salad.

Protein is filling. Sugar feels bad, sometimes even when it didn't in your youth.

If you had a protein based breakfast instead of all those carbs, you might not crash into afternoon sugar cravings so much.

You can use an online service and lie about your weight.

The medication is incredibly helpful for binge type behaviors. You can use it as a reset to get your binge foods out of your diet. You probably will find relief with just the starting dose. No need to take more.

Actually, for me, sugar feels GREAT! I don't drink alcohol, don't smoke, never tried drugs. Sugar is my drug. I cannot stop it. String cheese and berries don't help me. I've tried that...brought nuts and grilled chicken and a container of raspberries to work, only to hit candy bars later. I feel completely and utterly out of control.

You are in the danger zone for Ozempic face. Just focus on strength training.

Ok you got my attention. I've read about this, but assumed it just meant losing volume in your face due to weight loss, not anything extra from the drug itself. Am I wrong? I need to lose 10-15 pounds however I can. If that takes some volume out of my face, I'm ok with that. Does Ozempic have some worse facial effect?

Yeah yeah, but it's not filling you up. And you feel bad. So.

OP you are clinging to youth in a way that sounds kind of desperate.

Your weigh is fine.

Try focusing on your overall health and buying clothes that fit.

Do any of you remember the dexatrim of the 90s? Those pills worked great for minor weight loss. That’s the kind of pill both OP and I wish was back on the market. Nothing drastic just a little something to help you through the weight loss hump.
