School with daily visual and/or performing arts?

Anonymous
I am looking for a private school which has DAILY visual and/or performing arts classes for kids in elementary school (or at least upper elementary, i.e. 4th and 5th grade).

An arts-integrated curriculum would be preferred but is not required.

Anywhere in the greater DC area is okay.

I'm not native to this area and haven't had much luck googling an answer.

I honestly don’t think there is one. I think many will have art/music/drama three or four times a week and that’s it.

Alexandria Country Day has art, drama and music classes starting in K. They have 2 specials every day and I think one of them each day is an arts based special. Specials also include library, PE and Spanish.

Norwood has Art and Music several days per week.

River School has block art and maker space on alternating days in upper elementary. I believe the block time is over an hr, maybe even 90 mins.

If you might wait until middle school, Burke's 6th grade has both a year-long visual and a year-long performing arts class, and those meet five out of every eight days

Indian Creek near Annapolis has art, music, and drama. Plus music lessons after school, plus summer camps that are theater based.

Burgundy Farm integrates a lot of arts (visual, music and theater) into the curriculum and school schedule. I agree with the suggestion of Burke for 6-12. Has been a great fit for my artsy kid!

The Lab School is a great place but it is designed to serve a specific audience with learning differences.

Most area private schools have a LOT of specials. NPS (K-6) has oodles of music, art and drama. At least one a day of the above.
